Here’s a silly one, drawing from the same well as my “No, I said ping-pong balls!” series of cartoons I pretend to have submitted to The New Yorker. Perhaps I’ve mentioned it before, but that’s a bit I had to stop doing because people were being too kind and encouraging. “Don’t worry, keep at it!” Anyway, I can’t believe The New Yorker rejected this one!
Speaking of New York — here’s a substack-only treat for my readers! For 3 months last year, we rented a lovely townhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn, while my fiancée worked on a movie. The couple we rented it from had young children, and, like all good East Coast Progressive parents, they’d covered the walls with inspirational messages of kindness. One of these, in the upstairs toilet, was a changeable letter board, which quickly became a filthy game of anagrams.
